Medicines Use Review

Our specially trained pharmacists will sit with you in one of our private consultation rooms to talk to you about your medicines and answer any questions you may have.

Patients who are on regular long term medication or on several medicines may benefit from a medicines use review (MUR). This involves speaking confidentially with one of our trained pharmacists.

The purpose of the review is to ensure you are getting the best from your medication by checking for medication effectiveness and discussing possible side-effects and reducing medicines waste. Any problems identified during discussion may be referred back to your GP with regard to improving your medication regime. The MUR is also opportunity for you to ask any questions about your medicines to the pharmacist. The review typically lasts about 20-30 minutes.

This service allows patients to understand more fully about their medications, for example the reason why the patient might be taking the medication, and opportunity for the patient to share any concerns about the medication and how they take it. Any issues identified, will be acted upon and possible solutions will be discussed with the patients. This may include a change to how the patient may take a medicine.
