Badham Pharmacy Launches Free NHS Emergency Contraception Service
Badham Pharmacy has announced the launch of its new Emergency Contraception Service, designed to offer fast, confidential, and compassionate support for anyone who needs urgent access to the morning-after pill.
This new service officially takes effect from 29 October 2025, and will run alongside their current contraception service.
For many people, needing emergency contraception can be a stressful and time-sensitive situation. Unexpected contraceptive failure, missed pills, or unprotected intercourse can leave individuals feeling anxious and unsure where to turn. Access to care has often been inconsistent,
especially outside of GP or clinic hours.
Badham Pharmacy, is stepping forward to make access easier. The pharmacy’s trained healthcare team can now provide emergency contraception directly - no doctor’s appointment required. Consultations are confidential, supportive, and available on a walk-in basis at any of their pharmacies.
A clear plan for patients
The new service is simple and straight forward:
For eligible patients under NHS guidelines.
- Visit any participating Badham Pharmacy branch.
- Request an emergency contraception consultation.
- Speak privately with a pharmacist who will assess suitability.
- If appropriate, receive the emergency contraceptive pill on site, for free.
The pharmacist also provides follow-up advice, including how to continue or start regular contraception and when to seek further medical care if needed.
Badham Pharmacy encourages anyone who might need emergency contraception to act promptly - time matters. The sooner the medication is taken, the more effective it is. The service is available across all branches, and information can be found at https://www.badhampharmacy.co.uk/health-services/emergency-contraception-ehc.
With this new service, Badham Pharmacy hopes to reduce the stress and uncertainty many people experience when faced with an emergency contraceptive need.
Quick, compassionate access can make a significant difference in both physical and emotional wellbeing.
“Pharmacists are some of the most accessible healthcare professionals,” said a spokesperson for Badham Pharmacy, “By expanding this service, we’re ensuring people can get the right care, right when they need it.”
