CAPITAL C FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE at Badham Pharmacy
A special award has been made to David Avery, a Collection and Delivery driver at Badham Pharmacy Ltd in recognition of his exceptional customer care.
One of Dave’s regular delivery customers, Peter, was not his usual self when Dave delivered his medication. Dave said “Peter always likes to have a chat but this day that I delivered to him he was very quiet. I knew something was wrong”. Although Peter said he was alright, Dave was not satisfied. Having spoken with Peter’s brother, Dave contacted Peter’s GP and told him of his concerns.
The GP then rang Peter and as a result of the description Peter gave of his symptoms, the GP ordered an ambulance straight away. Peter was taken to hospital where it was found that he had suffered a major heart attack. He was told that if Dave had not taken the action when he did that Peter may not have lived to celebrate the 80th birthday that he has just had.
Dave accepted a special award & certificate for exceptional customer service from the Managing Director of Badham Pharmacy Ltd., Peter Badham.
Peter Badham presenting the certificate congratulated Dave, emphasising that although he knew all staff were committed to providing a high quality service to patients and customers, Dave had certainly gone the extra mile in ensuring not just excellent customer service but an exceptional standard of patient care.
Dave said “I was obviously very honoured to be recognised in this way, although what I did was nothing more than should have been expected from anyone who happened to visit Peter Stubbs on that day. When Peter telephoned me on his discharge from hospital and thanked me for saving his life - that made me feel on top of the world. Although I am very grateful to Badhams for offering me a monetary award for my actions, I do not think that is necessary and therefore with Peter Stubbs in mind, I requested the money be donated to the British Heart Foundation.”
